Lan
Senior Leader
Hello! My name is Lan and I am a medical student from the Class of 2024. I have trained and danced competitively for over 10 years and assisted as a student dance teacher for a number of years. I love dancing, music, getting creative, and staying active, and have spent most of my early school years in concert bands, choirs, team sports, playing piano, and volunteering in my community. I have passion for working with young kids as they always bring such refreshing enthusiasm, humor, hope, and energy to everything they do. Having worked with children from diverse backgrounds in many environments such as choirs, sports teams, classrooms and hospitals, I believe it is important for everyone to find joy in being active. Starlight Performance Camp provides a fun and safe space for kids of all abilities to explore the performing arts and possibly find a new activity they enjoy!
Julia
Junior Leader
Hi! My name is Julia, and I’m a medical student from the Class of 2025. I have great interests in music, dancing, and yoga! I have played the flute for over 10 years and played in the youth orchestra and university orchestra for a number of years. I also had the opportunity to teach flute to students and foster the love of music. In addition, I volunteered as a fitness instructor for the seniors, teaching them Zumba and yoga. Both dancing and yoga continue to be my passion, and I enjoy taking dance classes and doing yoga on a regular basis. I sincerely enjoy working with children, and I believe Starlight camp provides a great opportunity for children to explore performance arts and find ways to express themselves creatively! I look forward to being part of this great initiative in providing a caring environment for children from all backgrounds to have fun and grow!
Jasmine
Senior Leader
Hi! My name is Jasmine and I am a medical student from the Class of 2024. Although I have not taken any formal dance lessons, I really enjoy dancing and music! I started playing piano in elementary school and recently I have had the opportunity to share my love of music through teaching piano. Since I was young, I have also been playing soccer and have a few years of experience coaching kids summer camps. I have always enjoyed working with kids, learning about their unique abilities, seeing them learn and grow, and most of all, sharing laughs and having fun together! I think that Starlight creates a fun and uplifting environment for kids from all backgrounds to feel empowered, to express themselves, and explore their creativity. I am so excited to be a part of this initiative!

Junior Leader
Hi! My name is Katie and I am a first year medical student at the University of Alberta. I love working with kids and enjoy running camps. I recently helped with organizing and facilitating the Virtual Fontan Heart Camp and used to work as a coach at the Edmonton Fencing Club. I’m looking forward to helping out with the Starlight Camp this summer and can’t wait to see you all virtually in July!
